| So we went to Edmond's fireworks thing tonight... and saw some disgusting "american" behavior. We are sittin' around waiting for the show to start when a group of art school rejects comes up, with the only boy waving an upside down american flag with "stop bush" and a crosed out "hate" emblem on it. These kids think they are something else, waltsing in like they are doing us all a favor. So they move up the very front of the crowd, waving their flag and drawing attention to themselves. Most everyone does the right thing and completly ignores them, except for the old man (70's or more) sitting right next to where the boy was standing. He addressed him and they exchanged words. Right after that, the kid took off. Apparently someone had called the cops and three of Edmonds finest showed up on bikes and quickly found him. Two of his art girlfriends go off after him and then they all three come back, with the kid whining about not being able to put his flag up. A few minutes later he's in the old man's face acting like he's going to do something till a few guys (I was about too, though I was a bit too far away) came over and made sure the scrawny punk knew that he wasn't as tough as he thought he was.
So, in summery: rich, suburban Edmonites who are just out for attention don't make good protesters. I mean, if he was really "hard" he'd have kept flyin' his flag and not tried to pick on some old man who's right arm has done more to secure our freedom than this punk will ever do with his entire life. I don't agree with him, but I'd have at least respected him if he'd kept doing what he supposably set out to do. Whiny brat high school kids don't make good protesters. |

| So Stewart and I decided to go painting yesterday... we loaded up the truck with our stuff and drove out into the country, found us a nice backstop and started to paint.... though we didn't use any brushes ;)
